Hoy San Luis está tercera dentro de las ciudades con mayor índice de pobreza. En el «Gran San Luis» 26.871 hogares son pobres, lo que representa 115.030 personas. En relación a la indigencia 3.359 hogares se ubican en esa categoría alcanzando a 14.554 personas. En el último año la pobreza pasó del 40.6% al 47.8%.
Estos datos incrementan los sentimientos de impotencia y frustración, menoscaba la esperanza y propaga el pesimismo entre los ciudadanos. Hacemos un repaso desde 2017 a hoy, “En San Luis luchamos contra el hambre y la desocupación” dijo Alberto Rodríguez Saá
> En el 2° semestre de 2017 la pobreza registrada entre la población fue del 23,8%.
> 1° semestre de 2018 fue de 17.3%, y en el 2do semestre de ese año pegó un salto y se registró 31.3% de la población en la línea de pobreza.
> En el año 2019 la población con ingresos por debajo de la línea de pobreza en el aglomerado Gran San Luis fue de 35%, la indigencia presentó una incidencia 3,5%.
> Para el 2020, el 40,6% de los habitantes del Gran San Luis viven por debajo de la línea de pobreza, y que hay un 4,7% de indigencia.
> Entrado en el 2021, se reportó para el 1° semestre que el 44,3% de los habitantes del Gran San Luis viven por debajo de la línea de pobreza, y que hay un 4,7% de indigencia.
La caridad del gobernador Alberto Rodríguez Saá puede aliviar una necesidad inmediata, pero no se puede combatir las estructuras que producen la pobreza si desde el gobierno provincial se regentean.
Es un clásico escuchar que “las políticas neoliberales demostraron no ser la solución al problema de la miseria y del hambre”, lo cierto es que hasta el día de hoy sólo se han aplicado políticas de tinte socialista, que no solo no tienen iniciativas para mejorar la situación, ni asoman con cumplir los utópicos deseos de “poner al país de pie”, sino que además, nos hunden más en la miseria, nos condenan a la precariedad más extrema

Que hayan estos números de pobreza, no es ni por los efectos del cambio climático, el deterioro del medio ambiente, no es por la pandemia, ni por la guerra, es por falta de iniciativa de nuestra dirigencia política.
